Where the business was
A commercial law firm with 18 fee-earners received a steady flow of NDAs, supplier agreements and standard commercial contracts from clients who expected a quick turnaround. The initial review of each document meant reading it against the firm's standard positions, flagging deviations and preparing a summary, and it took between 45 and 90 minutes per document.
What needed to change
Fee-earners started the working day on a queue of routine contract reviews. The documents mattered, but the work was repetitive, and the backlog was frustrating clients and pulling associates away from advisory and drafting work.

The work we delivered
We built a contract review workflow that takes incoming documents, checks key clauses against the firm's own playbook, flags deviations with a risk rating and produces a structured summary. A fee-earner validates the summary and acts on it, and a person signs off before output is shared with a client.
What changed
Average first-pass review time per document fell from 72 minutes to 11, which is about 85% less time. The 61 minutes saved on each document helped the team clear a backlog that had built up over several weeks, and associates had more time for advisory and drafting work.
