Where the business was
The principal of an independent dental practice with two surgeries and 14 staff had been reading about AI for months and had no clear view of what it would mean for the practice. Before committing budget, the principal wanted to know where AI could help and where it was not worth the effort.
What needed to change
Two vendor presentations had felt disconnected from day-to-day dental operations and left the principal more confused than informed. They wanted advice from someone with no product to sell, in a session built around how a dental practice runs.

The work we delivered
We ran a full-day workshop with the practice principal and practice manager. It covered the current AI landscape, practical uses in dental operations (patient recall, appointment management, clinical documentation support and NHS reporting) and what would be feasible for a practice of their size. A structured prioritisation exercise produced a shortlist of two to three areas to explore further.
What changed
The principal left with a prioritised action plan. Within six weeks of the workshop, the practice had commissioned a patient recall automation pilot, set a budget for evaluating a clinical documentation tool, and shared the session notes with its accountant to support the case for investment.
